“ Restaurant Review: JD's Smokehouse 2731 Morganton Blvd SW, Lenoir, NC 28645 If you're a barbecue lover, JD's Smokehouse in Lenoir, NC, is an absolute must-visit. After a long drive of an hour and fifteen minutes from Asheville, NC, we were on the hunt for some authentic BBQ, and we were thrilled to discover that our journey led us to a true gem. Upon entering JD’s, the welcoming atmosphere immediately enveloped us. It was a Saturday afternoon, buzzing with families and friends celebrating post-youth sports games. The decor was rustic yet inviting, perfectly complementing the smokehouse vibe. The tantalizing smell of smoked meats hit us as soon as we walked in—it’s exactly what you want to experience at a smokehouse. The service was impressively fast, which is always a bonus when you’re hungry. We were greeted promptly, and our orders were taken with a friendly smile. It didn't take long before our plates arrived, and let me tell you, they exceeded all expectations. Now, let’s talk about the food. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, and ribs, and each dish was made to perfection. The brisket had a beautiful smoke ring, indicating the care and skill that went into its preparation. Each slice was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The pulled pork was equally impressive, with a rich, smoky taste that left us wanting more. And the ribs? They were fall-off-the-bone tender, with a glaze that was both savory and slightly sweet, enhancing the smoky goodness. JD’s doesn’t just serve BBQ; they deliver an experience that hits all the right notes. The flavors were spot on, capturing that quintessential North Carolina BBQ essence that can sometimes be elusive. For anyone who appreciates good BBQ, JD's Smokehouse is a home run. After experiencing such outstanding food and service, I can confidently say that this place is worth the drive from any distance. “ Everything was great. We had a table of 12 and was waited on quickly. The food was great. Brisket was not the best I have had but it was still good. Place was clean. ”
“ absolutely delicious food. i came from toledo oh down to hike in western nc and hit this spot. every single thing was delicious and i got 3 meats and 5 sides. we need one of these in toledo haha ”
“ My husband and I went as almost everyone we know raves about JD. I can say we were not disappointed. The ribs had a nice flavor to the rub. The banana pudding was delicious. My husband had brisket, which didn't seem like a large portion but he was happily surprised at how filling it really was. It's a unique set-up which took us by surprise as noone mentioned that, but it runs like a well oiled machine. The part I found most humbling and heart warming was a sign they ha e hanging about deaf and blind people and being able to hear and see kindness. It was evident they took this to heart with the amount of hearing impaired people come to eat there and the ability of the staff to communicate with them. Highly recommend going a d supporting this caring business. ”
“ The jalapeno cheese grits are so good! I had a little leftover and warmed them up. If possible, they taste even better! The brisket and pulled pork were so good. I took a group from Rhode Island here to taste good southern BBQ. JD did no disappoint! My group went home with shirts and sauces! I will dream about the next time I can go here. ”
